Stupid-Ass Kiddies.

Permalink: 4/30/2005 08:35:00 PM

Okay seriously. I leave my screen-name on my blog in-case somebody needs to talk to me. However, people always like to take advantage of this and ask me for technical support or help with their website -- or worse, for me to HOST their website. I mean guys, come on. I have a life, too.

Recently I posted a link to a .torrent for Mac OS X Tiger for those with access to it already, but in-need of accessing a faster, distributed download. Today, "prankst" contacted me for help with PIRATING it, but he was unable to burn it or something so he needed ME to send HIM a PIRATED copy of Roxio's Toast burning software for Mac.

AIM IM with prankst
8:14 PM
prankst: hey!
8:20 PM
smashTheQUBE: hi
prankst: yay ur alive
prankst: :)
smashTheQUBE: yes
prankst: im john
prankst: and ur just the person i been lookgin for
prankst: :)
prankst: do u wish to accept ur missing
prankst: ?
prankst: mission*
smashTheQUBE: what?
prankst: i want toast
prankst: =/
smashTheQUBE: toast?
prankst: yes toast
prankst: u got the dmg correct?
smashTheQUBE: the dmg?
smashTheQUBE: for mac?
prankst: yeah
smashTheQUBE: who are you?
prankst: im john
prankst: ok here is deal
prankst: my friend has 2 macs, mac mini and powermac he wants to sell me powermac (g4) but it dont have valid o/s on it..
prankst: i downloaded tiger and burnt it with his mac using disc tools
8:25 PM
prankst: so then it wouldnt load cuz come to find out powermac only has cd-rw no dvd
prankst: soo i was lookin on inet on how to take apart mac mini
prankst: to see if i could use drive outta that one
prankst: i found ur site
prankst: and i found ur screen name
prankst: now i got tiger 10.3
prankst: the 4 cd images
prankst: but their .toast
prankst: and i dont have that program but if i put it on a cd i can bring it to friends

I mean come on! Things like this make me want to take my screen name off my contact information. Sigh, it's always just a few people that ruin things for everybody else.

Everyone's favorite "wishful-thinking" project's bulletin boards were running a pirated copy of vBulletin... and you know how Jelsoft feels about that! Those silly kiddies.

Constantine's Out.

Permalink: 4/27/2005 09:58:00 PM

I can't believe it. Constantine got booted from American Idol tonight -- the only cool person left. Oh well, I guess that's what you get for singing a NICKELBACK song... what a crappy band.

Let's celebrate with a few audience shots: (there are totally legit, not photoshops)

Those stupid AIM Chain-Letters...

Permalink: 4/24/2005 05:48:00 PM

I'm so sick of these dumb AIM chain-letters I get that are like "send this to 5 people and you won't die" or "your dreams will come true only if you pass this to 10 people" -- whoever falls for these... well let's not go there.

Anyway, I've started my own AIM chain-letter:
boobs, pass it on. ;)

Feel free to spread this around all you'd like. Note that the winking-face at the end is mandatory.

I've been doing some test runs:

smashTheQUBE: boobs, pass it on. ;)
grassferry49: ha
grassferry49: I will.
grassferry49: can I see them too?
smashTheQUBE: if you pass that on to 5 people ;)
smashTheQUBE: they will appear in your sleep
grassferry49: oh wonderful
grassferry49: but will I be able to play with them?
smashTheQUBE: if you pass it on to 20 more people ;)
grassferry49: oh damn
grassferry49: I'm out of friends.

smashTheQUBE: boobs, pass it on.
c3po007: lol
c3po007: do u know any sites with qcp libraries
smashTheQUBE: nope
c3po007: dam

smashTheQUBE: boobs, pass it on. ;)
ahduke99: ;)

As you can see, we need to pass this around to as many people as possible. Go, Go, Go!

Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 GM .Torrent File

Permalink: 4/19/2005 11:59:00 AM

Everybody's looking for this, so I thought I'd give you an easier link to follow.

Remember, it's illegal to download this at the moment if you're not a member of the Apple Developer Program, an employee of Apple with access to Tiger in its present form, etc. This is simply to assist those users in downloading the file quickly.

Because this file is not actually Tiger Gold Master (GM, GoldMaster) (it's actually a hash of the file that would assist you in automatically downloading it with BitTorrent), it is completely legal for me to provide a link to it.

If you've read the text above, and you're a legitimate user that should already have access to Tiger, feel free to:
UPDATE: The trackers for the torrent were shutdown (again). Sorry! (P.S. I don't own the trackers that this torrent is tied to, just in-case you're wondering.)

"That Kid"

Permalink: 4/17/2005 06:28:00 PM

I've just learned that Macworld describes me as "that kid" when referring to cracking-open the Mac Mini. lol :P

"Cracking the case. The first step was to pop the case. As our own Dan Frakes and that kid's weblog have both detailed, the tool of choice is the putty knife."

The new: (2005)

The nostalgia is killing me.

I have declared war on Jamster!

Permalink: 4/09/2005 03:35:00 AM

With all of the recent press about Jamster's service, concerning how it's not actually free, I used to say "read the fine print." However, with smashTheTONES becoming more and more popular, I've decided to declare war on Jamster, with myself and the consumer in-mind.

Here are the advantages of using sTT:
1. It's actually free. (and it's not a subscription, and there's no obligation)
2. It supports more phones, including Sprint and Verizon phones, as well as other smaller carriers around the world.
3. It lets you use your own music and photos, rather than a predefined selection.
4. And last, you're supporting a teenager's business dreams, rather than some corporation's.

I've used Jamster in the past, and I have to say that it is a nice service. However, the terms in their agreements and fine-print are deceptive, and something must be done.

Boycott Jamster, and join the thousands using sTT every day!

Yours truly,
smash

There are a lot of indie websites that are very well done. Lots of cool projects, cool designs, etc. Sometimes it's hard to promote these, so I think this new site's going to help out a lot by listing the hottest ones online to date. Cool idea?
