"Sue me, 'Ali G' tells Kazakhstan"Permalink: 11/28/2005 02:00:00 PMIf you haven't seen the Ali G movie and/or show, you should. :) "ALMATY, Kazakhstan (Reuters) -- A British comedian who uses a boorish, sexist and racist Kazakh alter ego called Borat to poke fun at interviewees has responded to a legal threat from the Kazakh authorities by satirically welcoming the move."
Link Car Tip: Find out what's wrong...Permalink: 11/28/2005 09:56:00 AMThe dealership will charge you like $60 to find out what's wrong if it's not under warranty. Next time you've got a CEL (Check Engine Light), just go over to Autozone or any other major car place and have them scan it for free! You don't even have to buy the part from them if you don't want to. I was just there. :)

Follow-up on Rocky Mountain Radar Products...Permalink: 11/23/2005 05:16:00 PM(See original post.) One of their passive radar scramblers... I was shocked to find out that it actually works! However, the signal is so weak that it only scrambles if it's within around 2 feet of the radar gun/system. I'm sure their other products work just as poorly, but I cannot say since they haven't been tested. In light of this, someone needs to amplify that and make that thing do some serious pulsing. Be warned, though, since scrambling police radar is actually illegal... this is interesting though since it's a passive jammer, but active... etc. On the linked page, check out the video on the right-hand side. It's too soon for XBox 360...Permalink: 11/19/2005 06:42:00 AMHere's what's going to happen: 1. The XBox 360 will be released here in November 2005. 2. Mid/Late-2006 we will see the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Revolution. They will both be hot sellers for the holiday season. 3. Microsoft will realize that their product is old news, and release a Black (light-metallic) version of it like the original XBox, possibly of aluminum. People will buy that because the new white plastic case is stupid and cheesy. Will people will keep buying XBox 360 crap after the Revolution and PS3 come out? If XBox's game sales go down, the console is officially screwed since developers will concentrate on other platforms. XBox will be officially out of the market until the next revision... several years away. It will be deader than the Dreamcast. Microsoft knows that their only shot against the competition in the Next-Gen market is to release their product ahead of time. Why? ... ** Because it's nothing new. ** ... Who would pay $400 (even if you can find a console and games) for a souped up 2nd-gen console? UPDATE: "Early Xbox reviews: so-so" -- And so it begins. I could be wrong, but I guess we'll see. -- http://news.com.com/2061-11199_3-5960385.html --- Thursday, November 10, 2005

"Fruitcast - Podcast advertising"Permalink: 11/07/2005 06:01:00 PMNot only do I love their web site's design, but this is a damn cool service. I'm definitely not looking forward to hearing advertisements in my podcasts, but at least we can skip past them. ;) Link --- Saturday, November 05, 2005
GoldenEye SourcePermalink: 11/05/2005 10:19:00 PMWhat's hot: These guys are creating a Half-Life 2 version of GoldenEye... a very popular game (especially in terms of multiplayer mode... I miss it to this day) for the Nintendo 64. What's not: They'll probably get sued pretty soon for using the GoldenEye name. D'oh! Either way, I'm really excited for these guys and hope they get this up and running. Some people did make a few levels of this 007 classic for Counter-Strike a while back, but this is WAY better.

Don't Buy "Rocky Mountain Radar" Detectors.Permalink: 11/01/2005 11:13:00 PMWhen I researched detectors for my car, I took a very passive approach. I Googled for "best radar detector" and the like, and came up with a few products by Rocky Mountain Radar, or "RMR". These products reportedly detected, but also scrambled radar and laser guns used by traffic cops. Okay, so I bought one from Buy.com back in May. The detector portion of this device has saved me from a few encounters with traffic officers, but overall the product is a gimmick. Not only does it not work as advertised, but it's one of the poorest rated detectors on the market. RMR products, in fact, do not scramble radar... because it is illegal to do so... EVERYWHERE in the United States! Combating the newer, "lidar" laser detectors, is legal, but there's no way all of the equipment required to do so could fit in a tiny little box that sits on your dash. RMR's products are apparently based off of some cheap, Korean-made detectors that do no scrambling what-so-ever, and even lack features that you'd find common on the basic detectors you'd find at Walmart or Radioshack. For more information on the RMR scandal, I highly recommend this article (my main source) at RadarTest.com -- Link; as well as Radar Roy's activity at RadarBusters.com -- Link. To replace my crumby RMR-C430 that I bought earlier this year, and last week sold on eBay for just shy of the original purchase price, I've ordered a Escort Passport 8500 X50 -- one of the highest ranked radar/laser detectors available. (and one of the coolest, as well.) The red, dot-matrix display should match and contrast the dash lighting in my GTI very nicely! More information my new choice, and well-researched, radar and laser/lidar detector, the Escort Passport 8500 X50 at Amazon, here: Link. |
